I would like to start saying that I have no idea how I ended up the website. I received an email with a very professional look from Adel Buzal & Mauricio Maillé, the first photographer from the ICP working internationally and the second Director of Visual Arts in Televisa Foundation, the biggest media production company in Mexico. Signed by Fotos por Mexico. Inviting me to donate an image of my archive with print quality, to raise funds for the National Institute of Medical Science and Nutrition “Salvador Zubirán” in Mexico City. Within minutes I was polling my friends to see what image should I send. In correspondence with Quetzal Maucci photographer and of my besties, we agreed that the cover of zine, The Otherworldly is a reflection of my ache for that scene to happen again, that currently is not possible because of the pandemic, to be reunited with friends, in a small room sharing food, emotions, and beer, hopefully, that will happen soon. When I found out who the other photographers in Fotos por México were, my heart skipped a beat. I feel flattered and honoured to find my name among such icons of Mexican photography like Yvonne Venegas, Mauricio Alejo, Maya Goded, and other, very talented photographers. I really wish this community that's building within the confinement of the fundraising reflects on donations for a major cause, to combat Covid19. So, to finish this my first post, I would like to encourage everyone who sees me, that if you can afford it please buy a picture, thank you.
Me gustaría empezar diciendo que no tengo idea de cómo terminé en la página de internet. Recibí un correo muy profesional de Adel Buzal & Mauricio Maillé, la primera fotógrafo del ICP y el segundo Director de Artes Visuales en Fundación Televisa, parte de una de las productoras más importantes del país. Firmado Fotos por Mexico, invitándome a donar una imagen de mi archivo, con calidad de impresión para reunir fondos en favor del Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y Nutrición “Salvador Zubirán” en México. En minutos yo ya estaba discutiendo con mis amigos qué imagen enviar. En correspondencia con Quetzal Maucci, fotógrafo y de mis mejores amigas, acordamos que la portada del fanzine The Otherworldly es el reflejo justo de una escena que extraño: juntarme con amigos en una habitación pequeña a compartir comida, emociones y cerveza, tengo la esperanza de que nos volveremos a reunir. Cuando vi los demás fotógrafos en la página de Fotos por México, mi corazón saltó un latido, me sentí honrada y agradecida de estar en una lista junto con iconos de la fotografía mexicana como Yvonne Venegas, Mauricio Alejo y Maya Goded y otros talentos fotógrafos. Realmente espero que esta comunidad que se esta creando a partir del sitio web, refleje en donaciones para combatir Covid19. Para terminar mi primer post, me gustaría invitar a quien me ve, que si se lo pueden permitir compren una foto, gracias.
