This is the first year that London College of Fashion is part of London Fashion Week. I was invited to photograph the backstage, all the clothings and styling was done by the MA students. After two years of not working for Fashion Week, las time covering Tommy Hilfiger catwalk and backstage at Tate Modern, I was excited to be back at the bubbly backstage. The day of the show storm Eunice had London in high alert, for a second I thought the show might be cancelled. Trains where not running, buses severely delayed, somehow I managed to arrive just in time. Got into the venue through the back door, straight into the backstage. The energy was already very high, hair and makeup going on and last minute styling decisions.
I cannot even start to describe how happy I am when doing fashion backstage. Finally when all the models are ready they casting director start organising them and that’s when the pictures start getting good. All the photographers are buzzing around trying to get THE shot. The energy is really high and while I am there I just acknowledge how grateful I am to be able to belong in a space and moment like that, holding my camera with a flash that never runs out.

Es el primer año que London College of Fashion forma parte de London Fashion Week. Me invitaron a fotografiar el backstage, la ropa estaba a cargo de los estudiantxs de de Maestría. Después de 2 años de no trabajar en Fashion week cuando cubrí Tommy Hilfiger en Tate Modern, la idea de regresar a Fashion Week me emocionaba demasiado. El día de la pasarela el viento soplaba tan fuerte que camino a la locación me tuve que detener un momento y aferrarme a una barda porque tenía miedo me tirara el viento, la tormenta Eunice se dejaba ir, yo pensé que cancelarían el evento. Los trenes no estaban corriendo y todos los autobuses demorados, sorprendentemente llegué justo a tiempo. Entré a la locación por la parte de atrás directo al backstage, adentro como si nada los modelxs de arriba para abajo. Peinado, maquillaje y pruebas de vestuario.
No puedo con la alegría que me da fotografiar el backstage. Cuando ya por fin los modelxs están completamente vestidxs, peinadxs y maquilladxs, los empiezan a organizar para salir a la pasarela. Todos los fotógrafos comienzan a buscar LA toma, mientras las directora de casting batalla con poner orden. Se respira una energía vibrante, con mucha emoción y en mis manos una cámara con un flash que no deja de disparar.
